COURSE DETAILS

Day 1: Day and Evening Glamorous Look
Theory:
We will be starting with covering the basics of health and safety at work. This is very important for when you come to running your own lucrative business. We will be going through the 100 page manual that is provided as part of the course for you take home. Each and every step is written down for you. So that you can refer to it ya a later date. I will be discussing in detail what products are best to use. The products, brushes, different makeup from powders to creams to liquids. We will be discussing the ingredients and textures of products so that you have a deep understanding of what products work best when mixed. You will also learn how to wash and take care of your makeup tools, brushes and equipment. Together we will tackle different face shapes, eye shapes, contouring and highlighting. Every step is explained in detail through out. You are encouraged to ask questions and take notes and pictures as we go.

Practical:
Look 1: We will start off with a demonstration of “Day” Makeup. Which you will duplicate. The purpose of this demonstration is to slowly ease you into Makeup the more difficult techniques of applying makeup. We will also discuss how to identify different skin types and more importantly understanding skin tones. How to choose the right foundation for the skin. Dealing skin imperfections. Color correcting etc. (Keeping in mind a white wedding-registry makeup look). You are encouraged to take pictures for your portfolio and notes. At SAHARAMAKEUP™ Academy I will show you how to enhance the natural skin and bring out the best features. The key element of starting off with a simpler look is to ease you in slowing before we do the more advanced heavier bridal looks. We will discuss techniques, tools, equipment. We will concentrate on skin and the different types and tones. Most importantly I will be teaching you how to identify different skin shades and tones so that the final look does not look grey or ashy. How to apply minimalistic makeup that looks good in photos and to the naked eye. You will be able to duplicate this natural dewy skin makeup look. You will learn client consultations, skin care, pre makeup care and flawless base techniques.

Look 2: The second look for this section of the course is to do an evening makeup look. This is a day-to-evening look. You will be shadowed as you re-create an evening makeup look. After demonstrate the look I will watch you and guide you while you recreate the look and develop your own technique. The purpose is to push you into being more confident and creative with looks. You will be closely monitored and assisted throughout.

Day 2: Photographic & Special Occasion Makeup
Look 1: This part of the course is more structured around photography makeup like registry bridal makeup or a pre wedding ceremony. You will learn about the importance of lighting and basics of photography so thy you can take good pictures yourself. I will show you how to create a heavier perfectly contoured look which you will duplicate. The aim is to build up your confidence as you play with makeup and application. I will show you how to avoid flash back in photographs. How to cover flaws and blemishes. I will teach you how to mix products to get the most out of your equipment and get a flawless long lasting base. I will teach you how to get both a Matt base or a glowy base for the final look depending on your brides preference. I will be sharing my tips on how to make the base last for over 16 hours for the with minimal touch ups.

Look 2 - Traditional Bridal: You will be taught how to cover imperfections, discolouration and birth marks. You will be taught colour theory and learn how to do camouflage makeup. Everything that is taught is covered in the manual that you get to keep. You will be taught how to promote yourself in social media. How to take pictures and the importance of lighting. When best to take pictures and how to take pictures to promote yourself and your business. We will be discussing and applying different makeup techniques that different cultures require. Such as Pakistani, Indian, Bengali and Gujarati makeup. You will also be learning how to set the dupatta and jewellery so that it does not slip or slide for the whole of the duration it is on.

Day 3: Three Bridal Looks
Smokey / Arabic / Contemporary Bridal. Day 3 covers much more advanced techniques and a whole range of camouflage makeup techniques and products. You will learn about colour theory and photographic lighting techniques. I will also show you how to do heavier looks such as a smokey bridal, Arabic bridal and a more contemporary bridal look. You will duplicate all 3 looks and take pictures for your portfolio. This part of the course is more fast paced and covers a lot more so the course is full of in depth knowledge and information for you to learn and practice. Everything is noted in your manual that you will take away with you so there is no chance for you to forget.

Day 4: Basic & Special Occasion Hairstyling
We will be starting off the hair course with the basics of health & safety and the importance of hygiene when working on clients. I will be introducing hair care products and styling equipment. You will be given a 50 page SAHARA MAKEUP™ ACADEMY manual that covers everything you need to know about hair styling. This course is suitable for beginners or experienced hairstylists looking to perfect their techniques. You will be taught on real human hair mannequins with long hair. We will start with a few basic hairstyles and then work up to the more elaborate hairstyles. You will learn a minimum of 10 hairstyles. More of you are proficient and can work at a faster pace. Working with hair extensions, I will cover up-do and relaxed hair styles, and you will then put this into practice. We will also be covering duppatta pinning as part of the bridal styling sessions. Each hair style concentrates on different aspects of styling. Such as hair thickness, texture, length etc. I teach you tricks and techniques that enable you to create ANY hair style your client wants.

Day 5: Bridal & Editorial Hair Styles
We will be concentrated on more elaborate hair styles for bridal and editorial clients. This course is designed to meet your personal, specific learning objectives. You are taught a minimum of 8-10 hairstyles over the two days hair course. You will receive training from scratch, step by step, through to the classic finish, followed by your practical assessment; you will recreate the styles I teach you under my supervision and guidance. You will also receive in depth product knowledge, to create a shiny and long lasting hold. We will also be discussing the important aspects of owning and running your own lucrative freelance business. We cover advertising, marketing, branding, social media, health & safety, customer service. I teach you how to stand out from the crowd in professionalism and business.
